Cheri Longaker holds a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and has worked in the field of child development since 1975. For the past 10 years she has been an Education Coordinator for an eight county, Migrant Head Start Program, serving children ages 3 months to 5 years. She participated in program design and management, helped to oversee and evaluate the quality of program services, and trained and supervised education staff. Cheri has served on several state and national entities for Migrant Head Start including the Regional Coordinating Council, the Transportation Work Group, federal review teams, and the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association board. She has helped to plan and present at conferences at the local, State and national levels. Some of her other experiences include: teaching child development coursework at the University of Missouri, Columbia, and Yuba College in Marysville, CA.; supervising the University of Missouri preschool lab and student teachers; serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Early Childhood Specialist on the island of St. Vincent; running her own family day care home for eight years, and helping to start a home day care providers association. Cheri believes that by nurturing and enhancing the lives of children, the world can be enriched for everyone.
