katwal@wested.org

Counties: Fresno, Madera
Kabeljit has completed her M.A. in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education at California State University of Fresno, California. Since 1983 Kabeljit has had numerous opportunities to experience different diverse roles in the field of Early Childhood Education. She was a Teacher and Teacher Director for Fresno County Head Start for 16 years. She worked for the Joyce Huggins Educational Center, as a Master Teacher for 3 years. Thereafter, had an opportunity to coordinate the AB212 CARES Program for 3 years, until funding was diminished. Since 2003 she has been working as an adjunct faculty/Lab Coordinator for the State Center Community College, and a Part-time Lecturer for California State University of Fresno.

Kabeljit has always had passion for children and families. She is an advocate for child-initiated curriculum and environments. She strongly supports the anti-bias approach, and the project approach. She also believes that exposure to Character Education molds children to be respectful and socially competent as adults. She is a co-author of an article that was published in the textbook, Next Steps toward Teaching the Reggio Way, (2nd ed.) Just recently her interest in the PITC Philosophy, new brain research, and serving on the Infant/Toddler Conference committees in the past several years has sparked an interest to take on the role as a PQ Infant/Toddler Specialist Coordinator in Fresno County.
